Venice airport information

General information about Venice airport

Two airports handle domestic and international traffic in Venice. The main gateway is Marco Polo International Airport. It is one of the largest airports in Italy, located 12 km northeast of Venice in a little town of Tessera. The airport terminal has three floors: arrival and departure lounges are on the first floor, check-in desks and concourses are on the second floor, and the third floor of the terminal is occupied by airline offices and agencies. The city can be reached from the airport by scheduled buses, water shuttles and by car. Another airport in Venice is Treviso Airport servicing low-cost carriers, especially intra-European flights. It is located 30 km from the city which makes it more cost-effective than Marco Polo International Airport. One can get from Treviso Airport to Venice by scheduled express buses and waterbuses – vaporetto. Once you are in Venice, bear in mind that getting around in a car is simply impossible there. So there is no point in renting a car or using a taxi.
