Toronto Pearson International Airport serves the city of Toronto and the entire province of Ontario. The airport was opened in 1939. It is located 27 km from the city and is the largest airport in Canada in terms of passenger traffic handling both domestic and international flights, the latter including flights to the countries on the European continent, Central and South America, Asia and the Middle East. The airport has three terminals, with a free bus service running between them. The airport has been expanded and renovated a few times due to fast growing air traffic. At present Toronto Pearson is a modern airport complex with a developed passenger-friendly infrastructure, including banks, bars and restaurants, duty-free shops and internet access in all the terminals. A national program has been implemented lately to improve passenger comfort and security at the airport. There are special buses, taxis and limousines shuttling between the airport and Toronto. In 2006 Toronto Pearson won the international best airport award.
